The aim of this research is to analyze the effectiveness of entrepreneurship education for children. In order to investigate this we conduct a randomized field experiment using a leading entrepreneurship education program taught in primary schools all over the world. Our contribution to the existing literature is threefold: (1) we examine the effectiveness of early entrepreneurship education (children aged 12), (2) we focus on skill development, of both cognitive and non-cognitive skills (i.e. entrepreneurship knowledge and entrepreneurial competencies) and (3) we use a difference-in-differences (DID) framework in a randomized treatment and control group setting to estimate unbiased (short term) effect of the entrepreneurship education program. We find that the intention to start a business as well as entrepreneurship knowledge are unaffected by this entrepreneurship education program. However, our findings suggest that early entrepreneurship education has a significant positive effect on the development of entrepreneurial competencies.
