This paper presents a distributional argument for the use of supply-side climate policies whereby carbon emissions are contrilled through depletion quotas or thrugh permanent confisication of a fraction of the in site carbon stocks.Within the simplified setting of the Dasgupta-Heal-Solow-Stiglitz mnodel of a capital accumulation and resource deleption, it is shown how these polocies preserve the functional distribution of income between capital owners and recource ownders, while suggested alternatives do not. Such observations are of interest as avoiding functional redistribution may facilitate climate negotiations.
