Among the possible impacts of global warming, those associated with abrupt climate change are particularly disturbing. This term refer to non-marginal changes in the climate system, triggered, e.g., as the (smooth) global warming process crosses some threshold level, that may inflict catastrophic and irreversible damages at unpredictable dates. I refer to situations involving unpredictable, abrupt climate change and catastrophic damage as catastrophic climate change. I will discuss relevant economic (policy) literature.
